I Think our Girls are Competitive!

I put Madeline on the floor for some tummy time and she immediately rolled over! I didn't know if it was an accident so I put her back on her tummy, and she did it again!! I managed to catch it on video but it's only a couple seconds long because she does it so quickly I can barely get it!

Not to be out-done, Sofia showed her roll over too!

Finally, we had to see what Josie could do! The girls get tummy time pretty frequently- it's so funny that all three rolled over the same day. Maybe they'll be pretty even with their development!

PS. if you haven't checked the blog lately, I just posted yesterday too. Can't miss out on cute pics!

Welcome, Summer!

Hey Everyone! The girls wanted to show off their beautiful summer dresses! These dresses are from our friends Brian and Katie. We got them a while ago and I can just remember I was itching for the warm summer day when we could finally put the girls in them. Well, here we are finally! Minnesota is in the middle of a pretty warm stretch. We already broke the record on Monday (I think it was officially 95) for the high. Of course, our AC decided it would be a perfect time to die out on us. I hate blasting the AC, but it would be nice to sleep when it's cooler than 80-some in our house. The girls haven't been sleeping as soundly at night and the heat may be to blame but I'm not sure.

It's really hard getting a good picture of the three girls- someone always looks goofy or is waving their hands frantically. I thought I'd share a couple of the fails. Let's play Guess Who Ruined the Picture?? (I really can't blame them, who loves to sit through rounds and rounds of pictures?)

I'd say Madeline and Josie tied on this one.

Madeline for sure takes the blame on this one. Working on something?

Those fingers don't want to stay out of Sofia and Maddie's mouths! I still say this one is adorable, though.

OK, this isn't a group shot, but it's safe to say we won't frame this one of Sofia.

A relatively normal one of Sofia, Madeline, and Josie!

Here are some updates now. Sofia is past the 10 pound mark! She is 10 lbs 2 oz according to our scale. She has been eating worlds better, taking about the same as Madeline. She still loves to smile and talk.

Madeline is up to 10 lbs 14 1/2 oz! Watch out Josie, she is catching up to you! We lowered all three cribs (Madeline first since she has the least amount of reflux), so they are no longer using the Danny Slings. All three seem to prefer sleeping on their sides. It's so cute and the crib suddenly seems so big!
Madeline asleep on her side.
Josie is 11 lbs 1/2 oz! I can't believe Josie is almost a pound bigger than Sofia! She is doing well still. I forgot to write last time that all three girls love to suck on their fingers and thumbs. It would be nice if they always used their thumbs so we wouldn't need pacifiers but it's not consistent yet. They also study their hands, bringing them together and then to their mouths. Practicing eating? She looks like such a sweetheart in her yellow dress, doesn't she?
The Roseville Early Intervention team came to our house this past week to check up on the girls' development. All three are on track- ahead of their adjusted age in many areas. They liked to see their head control and how much weight they can put on their legs. Also, they could really tell how strong the girls were during tummy time! We were lucky that the girls were in such great moods! They were smiling and talking. It helped they came at 8 am, a very happy time of the day usually. All for now, we are coming up on feeding time!

It's Been Awhile!

I haven't updated in awhile, but here I go now! Our girls sure are growing and changing... What's even better is that there's some sort of schedule to our day. They wake up at about 8:00 am and will play a little under the Baby Einstein mat before their bottles. It's nice that they sleep in and then play and not eat right away so I can relax, eat breakfast, and drink coffee before the crazy day starts. Then, the day basically goes: eat, play, sleep (sometimes in a different order, though). The fussy time of the day is usually around dinner and early evening. It's a great day when we can get them to nap around then. I find that more naps make for happier babies (and they still sleep well at night)!

Sofia is doing well. She has been gaining weight the slowest, but she is up to 9 lbs 9 oz according to our scale. She is getting pudgier, making us all a little happy! She's getting more interactive and loves when we make silly noises at her. In fact, she's sitting in my lap as I'm writing this asking for more silly noises. She even tries to imitate the noises a little bit. I don't think it will be long before we get legitimate laughs out of them. We hear little giggles here and there but it's hard to count them as real laughs yet. Later today, I will take Sofia in to an eye appointment, and I really hope it is the last one. Please please please! UPDATE: Sofia is DONE with eye exams! Her ROP has regressed and her eyes are matured! YAYYAYAY!!!!!

Josie is great! She loves to smile at noises too! She's a whopping 10 lbs 10 oz. She is so cute- sometimes she gives us this really shy smile, turning her head away as she smiles, and then peeking back. Josephine is lucky to have the biggest dimples (especially on her left side). The picture below doesn't do justice but you can still see it. We are still counting down the days until the swallow study! It's only a couple of weeks away now!

Madeline is great too! Her weight is up to 10 lbs 7 oz. Sometimes I have to do feedings all by myself and Madeline makes it doable. She is reliably a good eater every bottle. It's sad when each baby can't get my undivided attention while feeding, but sometimes it's just impossible. When I can count on Maddie being so easy, it makes it less of a big deal when Sofia is challenging. (Of course, Josie is easy to feed right now too.) She'll probably always be a big eater, like her mother! Other than that, Madeline is smiling like the others and is probably the closest to real giggles. She's the most predictable of the girls (I didn't say more pleasant, don't worry- they all have their good and bad moods!)

A Mother's Day picture! (L to R Sofia, Josie, Madeline)

This is what I have to do to Sofia sometimes to get her to eat: naked baby! Sadly, this is sometimes the only way to get her to eat that last ounce!
The girls' great-grandma Sue. She hadn't seen them for 6 weeks so they were very different to her! (L to R Sofia, Josie, Madeline)
The Minnesotans out there know that this week's weather is SO much nicer than last week (a 25 degree difference, maybe?) I took the girls outside on a blanket with my parents and brother Jon. (L to R Sofia, Madeline, Josie)

My brother, Jon with Josephine. He is working on a thesis for Film grad school at USC called "Josephine and the Roach", named, of course, after his niece. She's going to be famous!

Madeline loves to lounge this way on the couch so she can watch the Twins win on TV.

Sofia wanted to say hi to the blog audience.

One more video. The girls kicking around outside (L to R Sofia, Madeline, Josie)

OK, OK, one more! Madeline is getting antsy and trying to eat Josephine's shirt!

Hope this post wasn't too long! Have a great rest of the week, everyone!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day, especially to you, Mom and Debbie!

Wow, my first Mother's Day! To three babies (and one in heaven) no less! I hope all of you mothers out there have a wonderful Mother's Day- and I hope all of us newer moms get to relax at some point today! :) I better go start warming bottles!

The Results Are In!

Josephine is officially done with oxygen; she passed her sleep study! When I was leaving the sleep study on Tuesday morning they told me that the doctor typically reads the tests on Thursdays so it wouldn't hurt to call in early instead of waiting until next week. Sure enough, I found out she passed! We couldn't be happier but we weren't all that surprised. As soon as I got off the phone I took off that canula! It's so nice not to think about oxygen anymore.... next step: get rid of the G tube!
Besides that, Josephine is still doing well! She is so smiley in the morning (that's usually the best time of the day for all of them). I keep thinking about the upcoming swallow test. I can't tell you how much I want her to pass. I feel so badly that she has no choice about how much she eats, especially if the other two both eat poorly, I'm thinking "Well, is Josephine not hungry too??"

Josie after our walk... one of the canula patches is still on her skin but it is the last one ever!

Madeline is still busy! She loves to play on the Baby Einstein play mat with her sisters. They really focus on the rattles and stuffed animals hanging from it. There is also a little screen that lights up and plays Mozart for them. We received a Bumbo chair from some family friends. As long as they are alert, their head control is adequate to sit in it! Once they start wavering we just take them out.

Madeline just hanging out in her Bumbo chair.

Sofia is a happy baby! We love the smiles so much...it seems like they are getting bigger everyday. She (as the others) really follows me across the room when I walk away. It makes me feel she knows who is mama.

All three of them so happy! (left to right Josephine, Madeline, Sofia)
This past Saturday we met up with some friends to walk around Como Lake and here they are all ready to go!
Happy Friday tomorrow!

Mommy and Me!

Mommy and me have a date tonight!!

Josephine has her sleep study tonight from 8 pm to 6 am. I'm staying with her...not excited for the chair that folds into a bed but I am excited to just hang out with Josie one on one! We will cuddle until bedtime and hopefully we'll both get a little sleep! My sweet hubby said he'd pick up tomorrow's middle of the night shift so I can catch up (unless I surprise myself and sleep well).

Last week the pulmonologist did say that we can take her off oxygen for walks and errands... umm good thing because we were kind of doing that anyway! Wish Josie luck on passing this test! Unfortunately, we won't know the results until late NEXT week (ugh!)

All for now! I'll update about everyone later this week!
