It's Been Awhile!

I haven't updated in awhile, but here I go now! Our girls sure are growing and changing... What's even better is that there's some sort of schedule to our day. They wake up at about 8:00 am and will play a little under the Baby Einstein mat before their bottles. It's nice that they sleep in and then play and not eat right away so I can relax, eat breakfast, and drink coffee before the crazy day starts. Then, the day basically goes: eat, play, sleep (sometimes in a different order, though). The fussy time of the day is usually around dinner and early evening. It's a great day when we can get them to nap around then. I find that more naps make for happier babies (and they still sleep well at night)!

Sofia is doing well. She has been gaining weight the slowest, but she is up to 9 lbs 9 oz according to our scale. She is getting pudgier, making us all a little happy! She's getting more interactive and loves when we make silly noises at her. In fact, she's sitting in my lap as I'm writing this asking for more silly noises. She even tries to imitate the noises a little bit. I don't think it will be long before we get legitimate laughs out of them. We hear little giggles here and there but it's hard to count them as real laughs yet. Later today, I will take Sofia in to an eye appointment, and I really hope it is the last one. Please please please! UPDATE: Sofia is DONE with eye exams! Her ROP has regressed and her eyes are matured! YAYYAYAY!!!!!

Josie is great! She loves to smile at noises too! She's a whopping 10 lbs 10 oz. She is so cute- sometimes she gives us this really shy smile, turning her head away as she smiles, and then peeking back. Josephine is lucky to have the biggest dimples (especially on her left side). The picture below doesn't do justice but you can still see it. We are still counting down the days until the swallow study! It's only a couple of weeks away now!

Madeline is great too! Her weight is up to 10 lbs 7 oz. Sometimes I have to do feedings all by myself and Madeline makes it doable. She is reliably a good eater every bottle. It's sad when each baby can't get my undivided attention while feeding, but sometimes it's just impossible. When I can count on Maddie being so easy, it makes it less of a big deal when Sofia is challenging. (Of course, Josie is easy to feed right now too.) She'll probably always be a big eater, like her mother! Other than that, Madeline is smiling like the others and is probably the closest to real giggles. She's the most predictable of the girls (I didn't say more pleasant, don't worry- they all have their good and bad moods!)

A Mother's Day picture! (L to R Sofia, Josie, Madeline)

This is what I have to do to Sofia sometimes to get her to eat: naked baby! Sadly, this is sometimes the only way to get her to eat that last ounce!
The girls' great-grandma Sue. She hadn't seen them for 6 weeks so they were very different to her! (L to R Sofia, Josie, Madeline)
The Minnesotans out there know that this week's weather is SO much nicer than last week (a 25 degree difference, maybe?) I took the girls outside on a blanket with my parents and brother Jon. (L to R Sofia, Madeline, Josie)

My brother, Jon with Josephine. He is working on a thesis for Film grad school at USC called "Josephine and the Roach", named, of course, after his niece. She's going to be famous!

Madeline loves to lounge this way on the couch so she can watch the Twins win on TV.

Sofia wanted to say hi to the blog audience.

One more video. The girls kicking around outside (L to R Sofia, Madeline, Josie)

OK, OK, one more! Madeline is getting antsy and trying to eat Josephine's shirt!

Hope this post wasn't too long! Have a great rest of the week, everyone!

I'm a friend of Audrey's. She sent me the blog before you had the babies, and I've been following since. They are beautiful!

  2. I can't believe how big the girls are getting. I'm glad they're doing so well. My cousin went to USC for film school; he graduated in 2001 or 2002 (I can't remember). Hope your brother's enjoying it.
